Curves on Chrome a Chapter of Women On Wheels (R)
Joan 'Gear Head Girl'
2008 Spyder

While vacationing in Yellowstone last summer, my husband and I realized that much of the gorgeous scenery was obscured by the confines of the truck we were driving. So when we got home, we ordered the all new Can Am Spyder roadster. The Spyder is a three wheeled cycle with two wheels in the front. Not your typical trike. But in order to drive a three wheeled cycle we needed our two wheel endorsement. Since the Spyder won’t be delivered until May 2008, we bought two motorcycles on which to practice. I currently have my temporary permit, and ride a 1987 Honda Rebel. I’ll be taking a MSF course within the next two months. In the meantime ladies, this Newbie is becoming a “Gear Head”. Since its winter and there’s not much riding, I decided to do my own maintenance on the Rebel. I took the right crankcase off, took the oil pump out, cleaned it and checked the tolerances. I changed the clutch cable which was frayed; checked and lubricated the throttle cables; bled the front brake; removed the front caliper, checked the brake pads, and changed the brake fluid; cleaned the drive chain; changed the oil; cleaned the cylinders, heads, and valve cover; and polished every bit of chrome. I am so hooked, that I will be attending the Cycle Conservation Club of Michigan’s Rites of Spring this May to attend their dirt bike school. I envision multiple bikes in our garage. I’m so glad to have joined Curves on Chrome. I look forward to riding with all of you!
